This apple cake recipe dates back so far no one in our family knows where it originally came from. The first written apple pie recipe dates back to 1381 in England. We love history because we know that people always return to the classics.


Every now and again a new diet trend sticks its head out. People then start using different ingredients to adopt classic recipes to match that of the new diets. These trends seldom last. People tend to always go back to the originals. We have analytics that proves this.

I wish I knew where this apple cake recipe came from and I burn to know the history and how it landed in the hands of the female members of my generation. The only thing I know is that this apple pie recipe has been in our family for over a centennial.

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350³F)
  2. Prepare a 23 cm (9-inch) round cake tin with baking or cooking spray
  3. In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to mix the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Slowly beat in the eggs. Stir in the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt. Mix in the shredded apples and walnuts
  4. Pour the apple mixture into your prepared baking tin
  5. Bake for 45 minutes, testing with a skewer or toothpick, coming out clean. Allow cooling for 1o minutes, then turn out onto a cooling rack. Serve warm with ice cream. Enjoy!
