Chicken Schnitzel Recipe

This quick and easy chicken schnitzel recipe is one of my favourite recipes to prepare. The name itself makes my mouth water and the finished golden brown schnitzels look amazing when served with side dishes and garnished with lemons and soaked in a world-famous cheese sauce.


Schnitzel is originally a famous and popular Viennese dish. Chicken fillets, prepared in breadcrumbs and fried to golden brown deliciousness in a pan. Do not be put off by the name, the dish is surprisingly easy to prepare and only takes a few minutes. There are many variations of this schnitzel recipe, beef, chicken, ostrich, and then of course the most famous, wiener schnitzel, and we have one of each on our website.

Directions

  1. Beat the chicken fillets flat with the spiky side of a meat tenderizer. Season the flour with the salt and pepper and mix well
  2. Dredge the chicken fillets in the seasoned flour, dip them in the egg wash and then the breadcrumbs, covering completely
  3. Melt the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat and fry the chicken fillets on both sides until golden brown and crispy
  4. Lower the heat and fry for a minute more, to ensure the chicken is tender
  5. Remove from the frying pan and garnish each chicken shnitzel with a slice of lemon and serve with mashed potatoes and cheese sauce. Enjoy!
