Homemade Pizza Recipe

This homemade pizza recipe is perfect for any home cook. Preparing homemade pizza is a fun exercise that can be enjoyed by the whole family. When my niece visits, she always asks us to make pizzas and she enjoys helping us prepare and kneed the dough. It makes for great memories. The secret for the perfect, crispy pizza base lies in the flour and we use semolina flour in our recipe. Semolina is aslo known as pasta flour because it is the best flour to use for making pasta and pizza bases.


Many people claim they make the best homemade pizza. Our homemade pizza recipe is simple and very basic. We believe the secret to a great-tasting pizza lies in the ingredients in the topping, where the base plays a primary purpose in keeping everything together.


Two of our friends own a pizza joint and they sell the best tasting pizzas in town. They use exactly the same base as we use in our homemade pizza recipe and believe me when I say, the town loves their pizzas.


Another great thing about this homemade pizza recipe is how quick and easy it is to prepare. There is nothing fancy about it, we stick to the basics, something that always works in food, and the ingredients we use should be something that is available in the kitchens of most homes.

Directions

  1. For the homemade pizza base
    Sift the flour and salt together
  2. Add the sugar and yeast
  3. Slowly add the oil and the water until a soft dough forms
  4. Knead for 5-10 minutes until the pizza dough becomes elastic
  5. Allow the dough to rest for 30 minutes, roll out thinly and bake for +- 20 minutes at 180°C.NOTE: I pre-bake the dough for about 5 minutes, cool them, and freeze it. For the tomato sauce Add the salt and basil to the can of chopped and peeled tomatoes. Transfer to a blender and puree until smooth
  6. When you are ready to make the homemade pizza, add the tomato sauce and filling and bake for 20 minutes until the pizza base is crispy.
